It is I, the feminist. I just want to correct your statement. There are quite a few instances where female side characters are just as useful as the male protagonists, in fact (and you’re not going to believe this) there are stories similar to this where the protagonist is actually a woman! At the end of the day I feel like the problem lies with the author. I see this side character often and it is kinda obvious as to why you see it so often so let me explain. As I am sure you know many protagonists are male (I could go into why most of them are male but I will save that for a later time), heterosexual, and written by men.
So what do these seemingly useless female side characters have to offer? Well, let me tell you. For lack of a better term they are a way for an author to be lazy and also make money off of neck beards who want to see attractive girls in fantasy. These characters help to explain the obvious (which isn’t obvious to the readers), make the MC look better by being weak, offer fan-service, and get into bad situations that make the MC look better.
They are a plot device with tits.
This is why they often have awful personalities. After all, why develop the personality of something whose whole purpose is to aide the plot and be objectified? Then because this was used so often it became a “staple” of the manga fantasy genre.
Don’t get me wrong I hate these characters, but not be cause they are woman, I hate them because they are an excuse to be lazy, and serve no real purpose. Don’t lump all female characters together. :)

"y’all need to calm down" can be construed or read as incredibly rude, as though ignoring that the other persons opinion is valid. A better thing to say is, "I understand your opinion, but.." or, "Thank you for your side, but I believe.." so on so forth.

I wholeheartedly second your explanation! It's just sad that readers frustrated or annoyed with these female characters always call them "thot" or "bitch" and wish for them to die and I'm just...yeah they're annoying but you're going too far. Blame shitty characterization!
