usually i HATE compilation stories. they’re always too short, have too many couples to keep track of, and it always goes somewhat like this: “chapter 1: oh hello! we’re going to have sex now. oh no i see you again and this is awkward. chapter 2: more sex and now we are having a fake fight that makes so sense cause we literally do not know each other enough to actually have a problem. lets have sex again and keep doing it for a couple days. chapter 3 and finale: oh we’re so in love and in a relationship now forever.” BUT THIS there’s substance behind their relationships and you can see them build! there’s no unnecessary conflict because guess what it’s meant to be short! nothing is being forcefully added! and everyone is adorable in their couples!! i couldn’t rank these even if i tried because they all have their own unique charms. 9/10
i just reread side story 7 AND JOOHA IS BLENDING PILWON AND DOOSHIK TOGETHER. HES GETTING CONFUSED I THINK IM GOING TO KILL MYSELF. pilwon used to be jooha’s saving grace. a light for him. then yknow he revealed his true colors but jooha doesn’t remember that. he’s gaining some memories, but confusing the nice man he thought pilwon was for dooshik cause they look similar and both seemed to care for him. it’s in a dream jooha has. he sees pilwon (with dooshiks face) in his dream at the restaurant with his mother, replaying the time pilwon and him first met. jooha drops some kind of nuts he was carrying when running into pilwon (with dooshiks face) and pilwon helps him. jooha hurt his finger when he dropped the bucket, so pilwon gently grabs jooha’s hand and asks him to follow him so he can help him. pilwon has dooshiks face in this dream/flashback, so jooha trusts pilwon and he stands up to follow him, holding his hand. suddenly dooshik (the real one, looking like himself from when he saved jooha when he first met him in the main story, with an earring and black button-up) snatches his other hand and tells jooha “you can’t go with him. he’s not me. he’s not me!” jooha is then reverted back into his past self, tied up in chains with fishnets, with pilwon’s blurry face creepily smiling at jooha and dooshik looking at jooha in the eye, almost attempting to convince jooha to come with him not pilwon in this dream.
i am sick to my stomach! dooshik please quickly redeem yourself and save us!! i will end it all!!!!!
guys dooshik will not turn into a red flag. he did an awful and terrible thing for a chapter, and your opinion on it varies based upon which translation you’ve read.
this is what he did:
-continued when jooha yelled stop multiple times
-continued when jooha passed out
why I BELIEVE he did it (will change depending on how the story progresses):
-jooha was “squirting” and was embarrassed, so he yelled stop to go to the bathroom, but dooshik didn’t let him because he doesn’t care about the squirting cause he thinks it’s hot. however he doesn’t fully understand that this is technically jooha’s first time again, so this must’ve been an awful and confuses moment for jooha when the caring and loving man he wanted to have sex with turned ignorant and selfish
-he continued when jooha passed out because he missed his warmth. he was happy to be connected with him in this way again, because it felt like old times. nonetheless still fucked up but it depends on translation and personal experiences if you view it heartwarming or not because he does give a little monologue that’s a tearjerker but yknow still…
dooshik took advantage of the moment he was supposed to share with jooha, and rushed into it full force with no care for how jooha might’ve felt. he acknowledges this in what i’ve read, but just for a moment, and wants to savor his mistake anyways. i believe, based on the story, that dooshik will apologize and grovel and repent. he’ll apologize to jooha. if the author decides to change his character for a SIDE STORY then it’s better just to think of it as unofficial and not canon. to simply be disappointed and disgusted at the decision they made. dooshik has been a decent example in the story, and hopefully there will be a lesson to be taught when the rest of the side stories come out. pearl boy is a great story to read because it illustrates heartbreak, mourning, deprivation, and existential dread. it shows how some deal with it, and i believe the side stories will continue this theme. dooshik will hate himself. i hope he does. i hope he despises himself. i hope he learns that he acted the exact opposite of how he usually does. it’s unfortunate that lessons are to be taught in such a traumatic way, but this is a story of life and mistakes and rebirth. im gonna hold out hope.

omg this was so frustrating but im happy who she ended up with however it took so long to get there and i wish she took the time to analyze herself and her feelings before diving in head first with BOTH brothers when things started to pick up with the story however i won’t fault her too much cause that’s the beauty of life and first-time experiences. it was a simple resolution that took a long time but i think that’s what made the part when they reunited so much sweeter! 7/10
