For those wanting spoilers, I read the following chapters of the novel and there’s nothing to be worried about. They get through the siren’s cove just fine. The sailors stay up all night singing and Maxi gets up and goes to the deck to see what’s happening. Riftan tells her it’s not safe; Hebaron comments that he’s tired of hearing men’s voices and would rather hear a lady’s (aka maxi). Long story short, they get through it fine and make their way onto land where Riftan informs Maxi that she’ll be staying in a monastery while the rest of them reclaim the castle and save the expedition group that went before them. I feel like theo should have apologized more to craig. it’s not fair that she gets to tell craig hurtful things like telling him to k!ll himself and still be able to benefit from his kindness. yes, she’s experienced traumatic experiences that she’s viewed as his fault, but she can still express gratitude and respect for all that he’s done for her.
