Yes, the novel tells you everything about their past. I think the flashbacks are longer than the actual story lol but it's very interesting. I recommend you read the whole novel because there are details that are omitted in the manga. You can read the novel on the ExR website
It switches between both so even though the overarching plot is happening in the present, there are multiple very long flashback segments that give important background info as well as a lot of character building. I’m pretty sure the first long flashback ends in chapter 19 in the novel, but since the flashbacks are separated more than they are in the manga there are still some later on.

The purpose of the scanlation groups, especially the japanese one, is to encourage readers to buy the manga from the authors because let's face it some yaoi mangas doesn't even have a translation from the company itself and scanlation groups are the only one who translated them; now would you had buy something that will cost you but you won't even understand the content of it?
As for the manhwa readers, the people who posts them here on sites like this actually encourages people to buy the manhwa itself as well. Their main goal is to help people (like me) who can't afford coins from different korean manhwa sites. Do not forget that international tax charges are included as well when buying the chapters.
