Ok the writing her is just bad.
Like the characters and the pacing is awful and all over the place

First, he's supposed to have been the emperor for so many years and have been this super smart and dignified guy and they all keep REFERENCING that but they never show it. I have not seen a single moment of the mc being super smart or hardworking. Like they don't show how he's working in the shadows to save his family they just say it.
They also don't show the process of him stepping down and the brother becoming crown prince.

You don't *have to*, but stories usually give a little exposition on slap on the *one year later* label at the very least.here one sec he's talking to his brother and then he's walking down the streets??

The translation also isn't good because it makes it seem like everyone is his brother or smth, and ik English doesn't have those concepts so it's hard but it does make the story even more disjointed.


Anyways. The emperor is supposed to be put together and diligent and seeing him slowly become free would be interesting but it's too sudden and there's no transition. Like the other him seems to be a fever dream. Just a case of Mary sue writing where the author wants to make them this cool amazing person but doesnt know how to do that.


And I sympathisé cause I'm bad at writing smart characters but the story is just either poorly thought out of very poorly transfered to comic.

His death also didn't seem tragic but instead unnecessary cause with the poor writing. Like....if they'd waited just five seconds before killing himself they could have avoided everything?? It's just dumb.




Male lead fucking sucks too. Like I'm sorry but he's so boring and also disjointed asf. Not really cause he's your typical danmei male lead- tall dark handsome brooding blablabla but like ...it just seems so forced??


Luo binghe is a good example of a male lead who is dark and obsessed and acts cute for the mc's love. You can FEEL the affection from him.

This guy has the emotional range of a piece of cardboard even as the mc oohs and aahs at his face.

Their reunion is just fucking bland on both sides. Like the ml shows no emotion despite having basically fought his whole life just to meet him again and the mc has no thoughtd at meeting the protag AND the guy who murdered him?? Bruh

It's like the author took all the tropes out of different danmeis and put them into a randomizer and asked ai to connect the sentences. Except, ai would do a better job at making it understandable even while being soulless! (Fuck ai art tho fr don't think I'm complimenting ai I'm just hating on this) (Tho maybe that was rude sorry I should never compare actual art done by humans with regurgitated trash even if this is also regurgitated trash)


The pacing and characters are just all over the place you don't get a feel for the characters because they're all over the place yet somehow incomprehensible.

I'm not wasting my time on this, but I wanted to vent. So here, my two cents.
