The main character found an ad from that family who are clearly exorcists and one of them got partially possessed by a demon of lust (a degree of desire most often associated with sex) needs help containing it. That’s what the prologue said and chapter 1 was probably shortly after said possession occurred hence why the black haired kid was so nervous about strangers being his assistant.

Did that explain anything? Also it helps to read for the sake of reading and if you don’t understand a word you look it up and go back to reading after you understand the word so you can properly focus on reading again.

My speech patterns can often sound passive aggressive which is rarely my intention but one time I was calling out my high school’s super intendant for not responding to my email before the due date of my school newspaper project by saying: “Since Senior presentations are no longer required by state law, our Super Intendant either doesn’t care about the stress of his students or he’s completely unaware of their situations. I did try to get a hold of him through email but he was unable to respond to me so I was unable to get his side of the story.” All of my teachers who read the newspaper said: “yep. That’s Dotti alright.” At least they had a chuckle out of seeing my last words as their student.

Anyway, I also suggested the look up words you don’t understand and go back to reading thing because you/we as humans tend to stop absorbing information if you/we don’t understand something. (Apparently L.
