I've never understood why it's first come 1st serve, what does what one team decides to do on their own have to do with anyone else? Like, what if the person/team "sniping" does a better job? Should the 1st team still have the right-away just because they were there first? What matters, imo, is the quality of the translation and speed of updates, if there is a better fit to translate, whether that's because the 1st team who picked up the translation is also translating other projects or any other reason, then the other group should be translating.

It's honestly a matter of having standards and some honour, you just don't pick a series that someone else is already translating while pushing them towards active competition. I can't disagree with quality and speed of translation mattering but unfortunately current translation team only has the second going for them as their English can be lacking and hard to understand at times. I can understand that some people decided to continue reading the manga despite that but I myself decided to drop it, it's just not enjoyable to read something that's poorly translated while knowing that there was another team doing a decent job only to be pushed aside by someone who took on their already started project for "practice"

I can't think of any context in which picking up something someone else started is dishonorable or lacking in standards. I mean, if the thing is a possession of the person and they wanted to do it themselves, okay. The raws don't belong to the translators so it doesn't matter if they wanted to do it themselves. If someone makes a sandwich, eats part of it and leaves, then you come up and start eating on it, do you have the right to tell another hungry stranger that they can't have any because you picked it up first despite it not being yours? Is that person going to even care if you tell them no when its not your property and they have the right to make their own decisions? It's fake authority with no real backing. I can tell you personally, if a stranger and i went to open a door at the same time and he told me to back off because his hand was slightly closer I'd tell him to fuck off and continue on my day.

That situation isn't even close to what we are dealing with here but alright, fair enough. If you don't see anything wrong with this situation then I can only assume that you can't really put yourself in shoes of previous translation team that never even left the project on it's own but still had it sniped from them. It's all about perspective and experience I suppose.

No, no, no. It's not me that's the issue here. I'd agree with you if the situation were different. The problem here is that you think that the lesser performing translation team deserves the spot for no reason other than that they were here first when another translator is delivering faster with acceptable work. It'd be one thing if the translation was terrible, but that's not what matters to you, you ONLY care that they came 1st, hence you arguing despite the better results. You previously made the argument "but you only care that the manga is translated", but it's really you being single minded here.

I don't know about that, for me quality of the first team was better, what can I say. I don't know how it's looking right now but the first chapter I read from the second team was actually unbearable and not on the grammar side, that's not the problem, never said it is, it's just English in general and as I said, I can just imagine that you can't put yourself in the first team's shoes and that's fine, not much I can do.
Anyone knows where to find updated RAWS ?
