I get her and what she did was not stupid because she is not leaving him unless he falls for someone else while she is actively pursuing him.
She wants a confirmation that he loves her beyond liking or having a crush, it's not bad when you think about it. I would feel anxious too because I wouldn't want to be a fool who says someone loves me when i didnt even hear that from them.
All in all this is one of the most proactive approaches I've seen in a while from FL in my opinion.

And she's absolutely right. Although, from the plot it seems like the rumours about her were circling even before she entered the academy- That girl might have already heard the story and not believed it at first. She started avoinding the mc after the other girl started bullying her, and in the same scene it shows the bullying watching and smiling as she lost her friend, so there is a BIG chance that the girl was threatened by her to stay away, like she did to the other low ranking nobles, so she just did what was best for both of them because she didn't have any power of her own to stand up for the mc #－.－)
