I know Yams has a habit of cutting away from the MEAT of the plot but goddamn. But TBF I did enjoy this chapter because we finally see the reactions of Paradis after Eren's plan. This chapter gave me a lot of Battle of Trost arc feels. ALSO Reiner is honestly just MOOD- too tired to deal with the apocalypse lmao.
The 104th's reaction to everything going down was something I looked forward to ever since the reveal of Eren's plan (at least bits of it). It's funny how throughout the arc MA kept saying that they thought they knew Eren well (out of everyone in their group) but Jean was the one who understood Eren's motivations were... that was to protect them. He also understands the horrifying actions Eren had to take in order to achieve that- he even asks 'There was nothing we could do about it... right?' Jean's leadership skill was shining throughout this chapters- good sht right there.
Whilst I may feel some frustrations over some of the 104th I honestly can't blame them for reacting that way. I mean even I, an Eren-stan, is still in denial over this 'conclusion' (I still can't help but get the feeling that there is more to Eren's plan than meets the eye-and some1 in this chapter somewhat reaffirms this feeling). Anyway the hate over Connie's reaction was something I felt unjustified, it parallels to the scene during Pixis' speech in Trost to that soldier wanting to go back to his family (that was Louise's dad..?). In times of hardship people would want to spend that with his family, but I know while Connie is slow on the uptake and get's influenced by his emotions he isn't THAT dumb. Nothing's gonna happen to out pure boi Falco, ok?
I liked Gabi's character development in this chapter, but just off-the-record I felt some salt when she mirrored Eren and Sasha in this chapter LMAO. Nicolo's talk about "the devil's inside us" really hit home to a lot of readers' discussion over the actions taken by our cast. Even if people want to take the "high moral ground" (of being against Eren's plan) it still comes at a cost of many people's lives- besides this was something Isayama kept reminding us throughout the series, black & white morals isn't realistic. Even if we want that simple premise of good vs evil... the real world could never be that simple.
the 104th cast was main focus on this chapter but we can't for get about the OGs like Niel, Pixis and Shadis... Niel had a family to go back too- he didn't deserve that shit man... and PIXIS my 2nd favourite commander after Erwin especially after his comment about humanity focusing their hatred on one thing was stupid (paraphrasing here)... finally got his wish of being killed by a beautiful blond titan... albeit, not the way he imagined it lol. KIETH SHADIS IS GOAT, he may have thought he was no one special but in this chapter it shows how wrong he was, he may not be a batman or superman but he's one hell of a teacher.
BACK to my gut feeling that we are only seeing a small portion of Eren's plan. Floch, he gets so much hate smh Y'ALL JUST HATE HIM CUZ HE MAYBE AN ASSHOLE BUT HE SPEAKS THE TRUTH. You know that panel in c112pg14 where he does that 'shuush' sign I always felt that was a strained expression like bad actor. His attitude towards Yelena changed this chapter, it gave me that vibe of an undercover agent finally taking off his mask and arresting all the baddies. It makes me wanna reread all his interactions with the volunteers/Yelena/Eren. I KNOW THERE'S A CONSPIRACY BEING HINTED from Floch's panels- YAMS I NEED ANSWERS!!!
