the story's premise was interesting, but the characterization of young pletta was so jarring from what I expected in a child abuse victim that I pretty much dropped the story there. i suppose her happy demeanor could be a defense mechanism, but it's hard for me to sympathize with her or feel the angst when she doesn't really exhibit the visceral signs of abuse that are typical of one (such as instinctual aversion to touch, guarded and timid behavior, etc.... like why is she jumping on the bed)

This is a possible reaction to a child that is curious and is abused/neglected. Like a child that knows they can’t have something but still try to obtain it. I agree tho they should have had her a little more dejected but I like that they still remind her of her abuse. It seems interesting but I need to understand how she ended up like that kinda like Arshete or however you spell it.
She was neglected in the empress’s palace over a misunderstanding but still wanted the attention of her father even tho he told her to her face he didn’t want anything to do with her… idk if it’s a stretch comparison but they remind me of each other.

no i agree, i hate stories that use abuse just a plot boost but can’t follow those with the depth and characterization. Obviously it’s true that being abused can affect people differently and not everyone turns out to be meek and frighted but honestly it’s like they just use it for show which is something that really bothers me

meh. i know this is probably supposed to be a story with no substance with cliche drama and charas, a turn-your-brain-off kind of story, but i still wanna say it: mc is moronic and bland, a typical self-insert. the mls arent the most problematic mls but they're not really interesting either. but whatever, at least it doesn't have super weird shit in it.

much of the angst was about mc's anxiety, which isn't a bad conflict perse, but felt like the author prolonged it longer than it should be, filling it with sex scenes and such. it was mostly resolved when mc found out about ml's intention to propose... like, that easily.

yes, ur right, that was the only thing the author did right. but in those chapters of him worrying, nothing really noteworthy happens (yet there has to be at least one sex scene per chapter....). also, i felt like it was resolved so stupidly, with an ex deus Machina cuz if that ring box hadn't rolled out accidentally, he would continued being silent. it was like the author decided she met her quota of silent suffering and decided to be done with it without giving him actual chara growth.

the ending was really disappointing. but it really was interesting, the manager projecting his subconscious, hallucinating that yujeon was alive and the one ordering/manipulating him to commit all those stuff, convincing himself he's doing it for her when he's the one gradually becoming obsessed/possessive of mc similarly like yujeon did.
im so sick of stories about "calamities" or world-destroying gals acting like half-ass villainess who's kicking people just for comedy's sake. for fuck's sake, it's the same copy-and-paste for these type of protagonists. even if they're not inherently evil, they must have caused thousands of casualties in the war they started. ACT LIKE IT. know it's stupid to expect this in OI fantasy, but it's so boring when they don't seem realistic. on another note, it's fucking dumb that jack didnt tell chrome that mc reincarnated (and he had 5 whole fucking years to). there is no reason not to tell him- if chrome was as good of a friend as she believed him to be, he would respect her wishes to remain at the church. like, the only reason her life isnt safe is bc of HIM SENDING ASSASSINS.
