Why is Korea and Japan (since that's what I usually read) obsessed with the ideas of popes and saints. Mostly even resember catholicism.
Well, catholicism is one of the least practiced religions in these countries, in stories they add a little something that gives the audience something to awe about. Catholicism has good mix of exotic symbolism and when it shows up, the religion is mostly there to provide a sense of magic or mystery to the setting of the story, with priests more akin to wizards or mages
I dont practice any religion but knowledgeable when it comes to Catholicism because of being schooled in a catholic school but isn't this considered blasphemy? Or am I asking the wrong person.
I don't know anything about blasphemy as I don't practice.. is it because they're writing about it in fiction work? In Japan they don't really care about portraying the religion accurately, so maybe?
It is not since they use different names for their Gods and whatever. It would've been blasphemy if they used the real saints' names in the book or talk shit about them (using their real names).
