aeternitas has a lot of insecurities, when he was young people often talk behind his back that he is not suited to be the next king.. the father king, wanted to help aeternitas so he went to lucas for help.. lucas that time is the great magician of the tower.. aeternitas hates lucas because lucas didn't help/teach him to learn magic before.. eventually lucas went into hibernation but aeternitas hatred and his desire to be acknowledged grew and grew until he fall/resort into black magic..

time passed, (you remember from the previous chapter where the young anastacius is seeing/ being brainwashed by something like a humanoid dark shadow?) that was aeternitas... before claude and anastacius are good to each other.. but anastacius was being consumed by aeternitas slowly bit by bit..

this next info, I'm not sure if I can explain it right because the friend I met online, who is providing me her self translated chapters of the novel has deactivated, so I used an app to translate which is not always acurate, you what i mean... so correct me if I'm wrong..
but, here's my translation...

the story that athy read from the book, is actually not just any story.. there are 3 timelines, or 2.. wait let me explain.. so, the past, the earth time (when she was alive and reading the book) and the present.. that's 3.. but lets focus on the past and present.. since not much happened from the second timeline..

the first life of athy "the past" (which is the story from the book she read) yes that is her first life.. then she died..

the second life of athy, "the earth time".. was when she was reincarnate on earth but died young again..

the third life of athy, "the present".. this time she relive her past life.. without her "past" memories.. she only knew about this life because she read it on a novel.. but actually she is only living again her past life.. the reason is because of Jeanette...

in the first life "the past" Claude hated athy because claude is blaming athy for her mother's death, Claude's true love.. that's why even though Claude knew that Jeanette is not his daughter but a result of his brother's black magic, she still accepted her to torment athy.. (dont get mad at Claude yet, because again like i said, i am not sure about this 100%)

Jeanette genuinely love claude and athy.. she didn't knew that she is being used by the anastacius.. this time again I'm not sure, but apparently Jeanette is emitting her black magic unconsciously, and this, together with anastacius curse, is affecting Claude's health and mental condition.. (maybe, that's why he killed athy "the past" not because he wanted it but because he couldn't think straight anymore because of the curse).. in the book, the story ended when athy died, but what actually happened after athy died, Claude's condition became worse, and "died".. later on Jeanette found out everything about herself and about anastacius and the curse.. everything that she needed to be know..

because of this big revelation, she left their kingdom and used her black magic in change for her life?? (not sure again) she used her magic to turn everything back to the way it was again.. In short so they can relive their life and resurrect athy and claude.. she swears that this next life she WON'T let what happened, happen again.. she thought she was going to die after using all her powers but, she too was caught with her spell and live the next life again..

when athy was born again "the present" this is the result of Jeanette's spell.. she confirmed that her spell worked, but something unexpected happened, like I said, she didn't escaped from her spell and she had to relive her life too, unfortunately she lost all her memories of the past and just reborn as the same Jeanette who is unaware of everything that happened and her sacrifice in the past..

athy crossing time and dimensions is about her reincarnation and reliving her life again.. dimension is because she reincarnated on earth and was again back to original world to relive her first life.

You were right about the 3 timelines thing, but not the Jeannette one. There wasn't any mention that Jeannette turned back time thru any spell. In fact in the novel, there wasn't anything monumental Jeannette did concerning magic.

It was never mentioned how Athy was able to "reincarnate." I believe this is a novel plot hole that Plutus & Spoon is trying to fill in this webtoon version.

The Jeannette sacrifice thing might be a fanfic because there was never an incident like that. She does possess black magic in the novel in which she unconsciously charms people. It went berserk near the end of the novel, when Claude told her she's not his daughter, and caused an explosion. This leads to her & the Alpheuses' banishment (yes, including Ezekiel).

Again, this is all novel things, so the events might not hold merit in the webtoon world, but they do provide insight.

The webtoon is no longer similar to what went down in the novel, so there are events in the current story which might have been newly added by Plutus & Spoon.

Although if you are curious novel-wise, Anastacius' character has long been dead. The original antagonist in the novel is Caraks who is Aeternitas in disguise. Aeternitas was an Obelian king, the one Lucas refused to teach. His sole purpose is only Lucas, (you can say he's a fanboy but got rejected) and he realized along the way that Athanasia is somewhat important to Lucas that's why he messed with her as well.

Novel-wise, Anastacius was indeed a trash. He was jealous of his younger brother who clearly is more powerful than him when he's supposed to be the next king. That's why he seduced & co-planned with Claude's ex-fiancee Penelope the whole black magic fiasco which resulted to Jeannette being born.

In this webtoon, however, there might be new revelations considering it took a different path plot-wise.

they seem to tone it down in the manhwa but she is still depicting symptoms of depression here
