Just finished this for the 3rd time and it's just as good as my first read. God, I love this story
I get that it's hot but these characters have nothing in common. Hell, they could have stuff in common but we know nothing about their hobbies or goals in life. All we know about the bottom is that he likes pudding, the top, and that he believes he's at fault for everything that happens to him except when he doesn't. All we know about the top is that he has an omega dad who likes gifts, he's a massive negging dick, and drinking the pain away. All they have in common is sex.
The author was this close to having a character arc with the bottom actually standing up for himself and actually holding the top responsible for his shitty behaviour only to have him immediately revert back to the "it's all my fault" spiel in the helicopter. DUDE. The only time you successfully stopped him was when you BIT YOUR ARM SO HARD YOU DREW BLOOD. You were into it, sure, but you didn't start shit you just reciprocated. Like, I hate rape in any story but his reaction at the start of the story and his trauma was believable. He felt safe with this man only for him to rape him later. What the actual fuck is that. A rape victim being raped again by someone they trust is a DARK storyline that needs to be handled with care. If this had been a story about escaping abuse that would be one thing but this is just wrong and cruel. If there had been time given for repentance and for him to work through the trauma of being raped again then maybe this would be passable. But no, rape is only traumatic when it's strangers and not a person who has literal control over your career, mind via pheromones, and can find you no matter how hard you try to hide. The more I think about it the worse it gets. Fucking ABO.
RIGHT! Not to mention how the author purposely flipped the characters pushing the bottom to do more unlikeable acts while trying to make the top pitiful.

It's rare that I actually like an attempted redemption arc for someone as cruel as he was but it really works in this story. The author really made the reasons as to why he's unstable believable
