I promise you, the slow burn is earned and the story (at least in the novel) is so well thought out that it would be a waste to skip out on the world building and politics/action just to see them kiss a bit faster.

I think people forget that emotions feel so much stronger when you’re a teen. Especially a suicidal teen who just lost his whole family He’s not considering consequences right now; he might not be here tomorrow etc.
So based of the author to actually grapple with the power imbalance here. Despite being literally stronger than Eunsung, Taegun is his subordinate and literally needs Eunsung to survive. He’s right to be worried, especially given his history. All we can ask of Eunsung is to respect his boundaries which I (hope) think he will do.
It’s so rare in fiction to see this sort of power dynamic actually being acknowledged in the plot

I love how every character in this story is layered. Even Shuri’s brother is given some humanity in her final thoughts about him. Good people have the capacity for cruelty and bad people still have dreams and goals they are reaching for - even if they choose cruel means to get there. I’d love to see more writing like this in manhwa in general.
