i think you need to relax
i just stated that yall don't need to hate on a whole population when most of them didn't even have anything to do with it

Having visited Korea and talked about this issue, I was told a big problem surrounding this issue is that Japan currently teaches that they did nothing to Korea during this time. Children are told that other nations (Korea) are lying when they say Japan committed atrocities before and during WWII. The reality is that Japan is the Nazi equivalent I’m Asia. It’s not like Japan was only occupying Korea during WWII, they occupied the country in 1910, and essentially turned the Korean Peninsula into one large prison for nearly 40 years. Koreans just want an apology. After all, most of the responsible generation is still alive (albeit older).
An example of a similar(?) situation would be how the USA treated Japanese Americans during WWII- by throwing them in internment camps. After the end of the war and they were real eased, many were not able to return to their homes and land and the gov reclaimed and resold them. In the 1988, the USA gave a shabby apology and a sad $20k to each family, but the important thing being that they still acknowledged that what happened was shitty and that they were at fault.
How is it weird that Koreans would like the same?

*cough* as someone of Chinese descent that has been taught Nanjing Massacre and all of that, I understand your frustration. Literally, most of the movies my parents watch during WWII against the Japanese. However, that frustration should be directed to Japanese government who did not sufficiently acknowledge the tragedies. As it was not addressed to early on and didn't leave behind many records, it's no surprise that it has been neglected to this day. However, I don't believe that this is sufficient reason to degrade their nationality and think that racism against the Japanese is ok. Many of the Japanese today are not well informed of the events that occurred and honestly have nothing to do with what happened back then. Striving for the recognition of the tragedies is good, but don't go acting like that this gives anyone the right to insult or degrade people just because of their Japanese nationality.
Now first, the Japanese have issued apology statements, but obviously not to a great extent like the Germany with the Holocaust, but they have. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_war_apology_statements_issued_by_Japan
Second, every country has their own dirty secrets. What South Korea did to Vietnam was not pretty either: https://thediplomat.com/2020/05/the-forgotten-history-of-south-korean-massacres-in-vietnam/
*cough* So calm da fk down. No one gets to choose the nationality they're born with.

You guys dont have to fight each other, we cant do anything about it if korea still harbors bad feelings towards japan, what jap did to them is not really easy to forgive and forget, also koreans you cant blame people asking when its true that you always antagonize japan in anyway possible you can think of. Coming from ph who also have history of comfort women, death march and etc. It is truly an unfortunate event but what happen in the past shouldn't also cause hatred towards one another in the present, we should all focus on making a better future by not snapping at each other atleast so that we could all move on,forgive and not repeat what went wrong before.
