Shinichi and Shiho would make a better couple, period.

He planned Ran and Shinichi since day 1. They’re so precious to him + you gotta consider that mangaka do not always have the bigger hand if it comes to the production (even tho it’s their work) They’re many factors which influence the progress (like higher up people who want things to go their way, envy(?) and other emotions, movie direction, fan service pleasing etc) You can still ship whoever you want, but I wish you would respect the authors decision at the same time and not go around and say, bro doesn’t know what he potentially created.

Yes I understand your point, I am well aware that the character of Shiho was not in the picture at the beginning of the story, and I'm also perfectly aware that Shinran will be endgame - they always have and always will. ╥﹏╥
I also grew up watching DC on tv, and that's why, while growing up, I tried to investigate deeper about the characters, looking at them in a more introspective way and that's when I realized that, in my opinion, Shinichi and Shiho are a better match; many people see the character of Shiho as just Ai, "lowering" her at the detective boys level, but if she had the possibility to appear more often as Shiho and interact with Ran&Co on the same level as peers, many would realize her potential and look at her under a new light (in my opinion).
I honestly see the relationship of Shinichi and Ran as "forced," like "yes we liked each other when we were children, so it's only natural we end up together now" ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ that's why I think they are not in love with each other, instead they look up at the idea of loving one another. Don't know if I expressed well what I wanted to say ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

Nah I totally get you and I also understand where you coming from. I also see things from different perspectives. If I didn’t I wouldn’t have mentioned the influence a mangaka has to work under often. I think the reason why people don’t like the type of characters like Ran is mainly because people believe or see her as being relevant only if it’s comes to Shinichi. (Like Amy Rose with Sonic or Sakura with Sasuke, but that’s for another discussion - no hate accepted here!) But what I truly like about Ran is that she gained a lot of knowledge, invested time into Sherlock Holmes and other interests of Shinichi. Haibara is already knowledgeable, alone based on her family background + Now she has Conan to rely on and the same goes for him. That’s why their relationship develops in a total different and ideal way. They are like magnets with the same poles, but even so one keeps pushing the other one away. They‘re basically from the same kind which may also makes it harder for them to ever be canon.

I really love 19 days and I've been reading this for the past 8 years, but I don't understand why suddenly stop the high school arc and start the future arc?
Already in the high school arc there were some time skips in the past and in the future that were not very clear, there are some other things to explain as well.
Now we are in the future, as if we are reading a sequel, but I don't understand what's the point of the author (?)
It frustrates me a little bit not having a clear and chronological picture of the story tbh

Narrative device. Each author chooses his/her own. I am very happy that he/she made this choice because we have always known that the 4 boys would be forcibly separated at a certain point and I am sure, because I know myself, that the narrative arc of the actual separation will hurt me a lot. Knowing that, instead, there is this light at the end of the angst tunnel < the present that we are now reading > will make me face those painful chapters with more hope in my heart

So originally I think the author only released the future arc on special occasion (like once a year during Christmas) since so many people awaited and asked for it. I believe this is the first time the author releases this many chapters of the future arc over a month.
This would also makes sense because in the high school arc it’s almost time that He Tian leaves to study abroad and Jian Yi will also be taken away. This would connect to the future arc when they return as adults.
Yao really is the whole Amazon forest(/TДT)/
