I'm guessing its due to the stress he went through last character and the black wolf (the second personality) took over to protect him from more pain, physically and emotionally. Since a few chapters back the black wolf was telling seol to get away from the seme saying it'd only lead to more suffering. Essentially the black wolf is all of his pain and suffering which is why hes defensive and ended up crying for fear of being hurt again in this chapter.
