And he has a cold disposition because he was trying to help his daughter. He was treating her coldly so that she’s not easily taken advantage of. How can you brush off the fact he was raped at a young age so easily? And it happened when he was young, so it obviously had a huge impact on him. Obviously something so horrible happening toward him will change his attitude towards others and how he treats people. Even so, his attitude is him trying to be kind to them. He’s just misunderstood.

He treated the step mother “coldly” originally because he felt it was pitiful that she ended up with someone like, and treated his daughter coldly so that’s she wasn’t taken advantage of like he was at a young age. He even apologized for treating them coldly, as well. And when he told the step mother about what happened to him, he even thought what happened to him was NORMAL. He’s just an innocent man.
Someone said he had a reason for being like that towards his daughter. It's in the novel mangabiatch
Most reasons are simply excuses. But in his case yes like Misa said he has a really good reason! I'm one of the last ones usually to empathize with a sh!tty male or female lead even if I'm told their reasons for acting that way. But yep the author here did a really good job of providing a solid backstory this time. So sad indeed!

At least he is not abusing them. He hust put a cold wall. I know it is harsh. But at least it is not like he did not tooootally thrown off the duty of a father and did not abused anyone really...
Now I will politely argue my opinion, without assaulting or offending as some people do: 1. Being a victim is not the same as being automatically innocent 2.As I have already said as much as one may have suffered in his life, he has no excuse to behave as he wants. Yes, what happened to him is terrible, rape is one of the worst things that can happen to you and it is an act that must be absolutely punished; yes, he is a victim and therefore his closed behavior is understandable because a trauma remains with you forever. But no, it is not an excuse to harm others. We must consider that this story is set in a historical period in which if a woman is left like this at the altar, or if she is unable to spend the first night with her husband, she will not have a nice day, let's say. Due to ML's "reckless" behavior, the stepmother is DEAD. If she hadn't been left to fend for herself she wouldn't have become bad and she wouldn't have abused Blanche. When a child is mistreate, he will remember it forever, this is not protecting and teaching to make a person stronger. 3. also tell my personal experience. My grandfather always treated my father badly, he was an alcoholic and he beat him. My father had his sad past and still suffers from it today. My father growing up so badly became an alcoholic too, he always messes up at home, threatens and mistreats me and my family. Does his sad past disown what he is now doing? No. I can feel sorry but not accept. Since I'm a victim, can I treat the first one that passes like shit? 4. no one belittles anyone's past, but what is important is to see the present. Maybe his behavior doesn't seem serious to you, but doing nothing, just looking, ignoring is serious. 5. I find it hypocritical that you attacked me in protection of ML just because he has a sad past and you like him. You also have to consider the life of the other characters and not just his. If we consider the sad past of all criminals, they would all be forgiven. 6. the original FL was a victim, so what she did to Blanche was acceptable ??
I know that maybe you like a character and you can understand him, but you also have a code of behavior to follow. I don't treat anyone badly even though I am experiencing what I am experiencing. We must see the whole story and not be conditioned in the vision by the past of a single character. it is not normal to forget everything he does because he was raped. Now I have said my opinion and so it is for now. If you have to answer in the same uncivilized way you did before then don't do it thank you.

Why'd you have to write a whole essay? No hate but isn't this a bit excessive?

I only seeing you saying that someone who was r@ped must spend a night with another person in order to keep the other person from having sad feelies. So you're actually telling us that one must help their mother stay with their abusive father because, if one doesn't accept abuse, they're being a pos to their mother.
Also he actually thought he was helping his daughter all while, st the same time, not extending it beyond treating her coldly. Stbybdba.

The latter half of the first paragraph in my above comment was an analogy btw.

Exactly. Not only that he actually appears to think actively acting cold to his daughter is less abusive than acting all lovey dovey towards her.

In my analogy I was drawing parallels between: 1. the abusive father and a sexist society, 2. between the mother who wants to stay with the abusive father and the OG stepmother and 3. between the child and the ML; The sad feelies of course are referring to the sexist society/abusive father who plays on other people's feelings and emotions to get what they want.

Scratch the 'less abusive' part. When I went back and rethought the spoilers I realized he didn't think neglect was abusive at all. From what I gathered, I believe he thinks showing LOVE is abusive.
Clearly this isnt yuri...spoilers in the topics are confusing..I’m betting she’ll end up wth the white hair guys and clearly they’re both players soo I think they suit each other lol ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Whatever...I dont like the ml

I’m really disgusted by anyone who just brushed what happened to him aside. It’s so disgusting.
