From my perspective, I didn’t get arrogance in that moment. It seemed to me like he wasn’t hiding his disappointment and/or being passive aggressive towards his BF who is expected chocolates from. That’s why he didn’t admit to buying those chocolates especially when originally he wasn’t going to go out of his way in the first place.
