I think because forgiving an abusive character is not that easy. She showers her with apologies and love but it still feels like she doesn’t really know her daughter and allow her to have any autonomy or make decision outside of her control. She‘s trying to change that, so it’s nice, but she can’t help her own way of thinking to revert back to “why isn’t she doing what I say/want?” and also “I should lock her up in a tower”. She’s controlling of Lilyca, she’s either negligent (like before) or goes full helicoptere mom, no in-between, no taking time to earn forgiveness (which Lilyca gave her with no second thought anyway because she’s a kid). I like Lidia but when we have Fjord’s mother that tortures him on the daily and compare it to Lidia pre-regression, what’s the difference honestly? The difference is that Lidia stopped out of nowhere in Lilyca’s POV. Still, they both share “being beaten by their mother” as a backstory.
At the end of the day, it’s like Endeavor in MHA, if the victim forgive their abuser after their redemption arc, what can we say
