you know i have my grips about this story, but some parts are very compelling to me. i like how jaekyung’s ritual is all about wiping out parts of his childhood, but we all know that pushing your trauma further and further away will cause the dam to collapse. the cologne callback was especially interesting to see as we always saw him spritz some on the morning of his match (the glass of milk i didn’t remember…) and i think the back story was very needed.
what gets me though is that, yes i feel bad for him, yes he grew up with an absent mother and an abusive criminal father, but he had people who cared so much about him growing up. he had his coach, his coach’s mother, this high school teachers, his current gym coach and gym mates… literally everyone was there for him and putting their 120% into caring for and loving jaekyung. but i understand how familial trauma and mental turmoil can turn an asshole into a bigger asshole.

i’m the type who rarely roots for the second male lead, but god do i want her to heal and actually be with this guy. after reading the raws, 2nd male lead is literally such a golden retriever, green flag guy. he’s fit (also a professional athlete), cares for mc, and protected her when her stalker ass ex shows up again 5 years later
and literally what is ml’s deal? in the raws, he shows up and begs for forgiveness, but he literally, divorced her, ruined her entire life, and made her miscarry when she was 7 weeks along. i bet the story is gonna say that he had to do that to “protect her” because he was trying to take down her family, but the emotional damage will never leave mc, she is permanently stuck with the pain of being abandoned by the person she loved and the pain of losing her baby. oh and i would love to see the look of his face when he finds out that he’s the reason why she probably miscarried. PLEASE i need to see her end up with no one or the 2nd male lead, ANYONE but the ml.
