I mean, I don't know. For my part, I have never once done anything of the sort, but I think if it's just simple pictures like this - in public, with main focus on the face - and nothing else, it feels pretty innocent and even a little understandable to me. I suppose it just doesn't ultimately seem all that different to me from, say, taking screenshots of your favorite actor? (Or even saving pictures taken by paparazzi who actually do this *officially* in this exact manner and even get *paid* for it ╮(￣▽￣)╭ )
I imagine the reason why people will still naturally find it unnerving if they find out about something like this is that you can't read another person's mind or reliably predict their actions, which can make it scary because you simply can't know for certain who is just a shy but ultimately normal and innocent person with a harmless crush, and who might be an actual potentially dangerous stalker with mental issues that won't stop at merely taking some pictures while you're nearby at school.
