The og saintess loves mikhail (or at least his past life?); my other comment meant the the og saintess truly loves mikhail, since mikhail cant brainwash her (cuz strong light powers), so that shows that her feelings weren't manipulated.
If ur talking about our mc, then brainwashing shouldnt work since the first time mikhail attempted to brainwash her by looking at her in the eyes, it clearly didnt work since she still had a clear mind. Even if she cant control her powers, I assume that it's a passive power that allows her to nullify the effects. The only reason she cant control herself properly is cuz the og saintess has some slight control over her body since mc is a reincarnation of the og saintess.
So yea- mikhail's situation is pretty tragic, but uh- nothing we can do about that, that's just how the story unfolded
