DISABILITY IN JAPAN It's no surprise that kasumi was confined , that's actually the best treatment he'll ever get knowing how japan deals with disanbilities. To this day individuals who suffer from mental or physical disabilities are regarded as lacking, shamefull,a mistake that should be hid. and sadly that's the case.. most people will send their disabled family members to special homes where they stay there hidden for the rest of their lives ,and even if their families are good enough to allow em to be a member of society ,society it self will shut em down. as they were treated as not worthy of life ,no chances of employement or voting because according to people there "they don't have the right to decide because they're mentaly unable to" even if the disability is physical. japan developed many warefare laws and legislations to give them the bare minimum (like employement which was only avilable to disabled ppl from elite families after months of intense trainig) but nothing changed and these were only failed attempts to save face addressing international blame. Knowing that the japanese goverment sterilized 20.000 disabled ppl after WWII , apparently still doing so.
I'm betting on shouma leaving Kyouichi later , because he's too selfish and manipulative to appreciate his lover, also him making kyouichi feel bad about tending to his sick granny is messed up
