Don't worry he is not the ML, but he is her first love. From my knowledge of reading different many manhuwas, mangas, novels and watching lots of anime, the archmage will most likely die protecting her or for her/in her arms. She would learn what heartbreak and sadness means for the first time and the ML (the prince) will appeal to her.
That's how it happened in "saiunkoku monogatari" (a manga/anime I recommend 100%)

There was so many things about this that's off putting. Why was she "chubby" when it was only an extra 6 kilos??? And her acne?? She lost all of this issues in two weeks??? (or two months, it'd said both) Like it added literally ｎｏｔｈｉｎｇ to the plot. Didn't they say she was engaged to the Prince in the game and became jealous of the heroine bc of that?? Why on earth was the heroine in that school if she was a commoner?? She wasn't even a Saint at that point and had no powers to show. The tiger??? Literally showed up outta nowhere for a few pages. Shouldn't he have been a loli since his beast form was a cub?? Instead of a grown ass man??? Why is the Prince mentally deranged? No reason for him to fall in love with a powerless commoner! Unless it's the game at work. I'm sorry but I could go on for hours about the amount of things in this story that makes no sense or adds nada to the plot. The only thing I actually like was that she saved herself from the heroine and the ML didn't come and rescue her.
Dunno what happened with the author maybe they just wanted to do a quick mindless story to brush up on art skills or something idk but it defo had a horrendous story

Sure he might be a good father theoretically but that's only cuz he doesn't need to take care of her. He can come whenever he feels like 'playing father' and leave when he's done. Doesn't sound like a good parent to me

Lol I haven't read this but I see people complaining about the romance. I do believe most shounen type stories fail at romance because it's always a last minute addition. If the author really want romance they should have a fellow author who's more experienced in romance to help. I think it'll make it much better. Bye bye
