Ikr. I thijk the author jusf genuinely does not understand sex and/or gay sex, which is why the no foreplay/lubrication part doesn’t read as violent or negative like in other manhwa. Maybe a more innocent mistake but man wish the author would just talk to someone gay and in the know to fix Ts
it’s so crazy because this was one of the first BLs (this came out in 2006) to have two large men with the bottom being larger and the fact that there hasn’t been any lube used ever just gives uneducated (or author has a fetish. both probably)
i finally read through all of it and i can say this was soooo phenomenal. i haven’t read a manhwa where i understood the mc’s (shitty) attitude and thoughts this well in a long time. he doesn’t have a sad backstory, in fact he’s a guy blessed with everything anybody could ever want. he’s breezing through life while laughing at the misfortune of others and doing anything he wants because he only cares about himself and results. it’s so impressive that i understood his character and even sympathized with him sometimes in s2 and 3 because all of this guy is so human. he’s so horribly human lol. i couldn’t fully detest him knowing there are people like him out there and they’re just as human as the rest of us. but of course i do still detest his actions and its validating that he also deeply regrets it.
it was such good writing even in s1. this guy nakwon is pretty much a psychopath but felt love for the first time with a guy who’s as impervious as a rock…. going from violating, manipulating and wishing his destruction just for his own entertainment (and also because he’s a cop…whatever) to wanting to keep mokhwa from leaving him for the dark side by any method possible was really so well done. like aside from the intentional second hand embarrassment the author gave us there was nothing cringey or unlikeable in the plot despite the common trope of bully falling for victim.
i liked how nakwon stayed fully nakwon throughout the chase and relationship arcs. like he’s still a self absorbed asshole who knows he’s a terrible guy but it’s alright with him except if he realizes how his actions might have potentially distanced mokhwa instead of attracted. i’ve only felt fond for nakwon two or three times because i can’t get over how far he went to be horrible in s1 but i did relate to him wayyyyyy too much when he was desperately plotting how to burrow into mokhwa’s heart forever. and every time he waxed poetic about mokhwa i wholeheartedly nodded along because that’s some of the truest things written in this manhwa ever. mokhwa can never have too many fans! i love you mokhwa i will give everything for you mokhwa!!!!! MOKHWAAAAAA
i’d written a little more about how the rape was unnecessary but added another layer to their relationship which started out as heartless cop and ex convict turned to lovers. but anything i’d written would just be a repetition of what another user already wrote here and they did it so well!
