I get what you mean. It’s hard for me personally to differentiate if he only now started feeling regretful of the divorce between him realizing he’s actually in love with her only recently or because he’s possessive of her, not in a romantic sense but “you’re the only woman who can can walk over so you’re more convenient for me” sort of way. Either way, I can’t sympathize with him because of what you mentioned earlier and her being used as a pawn.
