I do think she adopted him because he had such a strong conection to Heeso's mom, like some way to control him because he is the one who could've go after what happened to her (and he did)

No one is saying it excuses his actions. It's just showing the readers his backstory and it helps to explain why he is the way he is. It's called character development. The plot isn't attempting to justify the things he did.
