So....did the original king and queen not fuck at all??
Cuz if they did, she would lose her powers, right???? (⊙…⊙ )
I am confusion (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

from my understanding, the queen originally have power and it was still strong thats why it was fine even when she had a daughter, her power was passed down in the line. but however as the time passed the power going weaker to the point they married their relative to keep the power going strong in the blood. but then, they changed the method into blood transferring, and this method is the one that have the rule for the holder to be virgin or the blood holder will lost it's power.

Nope cuz it mentions that the daughter has to protect her chastity as a miko when she had to look for a successor
Personally, I'm starting to think that protecting the chastity is more of a protection of the figurehead/divine authority the minority has but it doesn't need to be protected for power reasons. Like, keeping chaste was more for political than the actual "if you fuck, you lose your powers" kind of thing.

i think it was mentioned that even before the devotion to the "himiko" belief, the queen alrdy have powers and she and the king had a daughter who had the same powers as the queen... in order to have heirs or to remain the himiko figure alive, marriage within the family was allowed...so probably siblings or relatives w/ the same blood did the deed to give birth to children who might be the next himiko (like upon birth they possessed the powers already w/o needing any ceremonies/ritual)....but in order to avoid the declining of the powers..ig in times when a generation cannot produce an heir, the blood ritual/ceremony was then being done in order to pass the powers to those "chosen ones"....and ig this is the current method being used to have an heir....since it was mentioned that in order for the powers to manifest, one must possessed the miko's blood. And these chosen ones are being selected thru that festivals. Hence, how shiki became the miko.

But in the beginning of the recent update ch 4, she explained that the daughter didn't have children to preserve her chastity. Did not mention infamily marriage to preserve the blood.
The first and only child born in the miko bloodline was the queen's daughter, who then looked for a successor to pass her blood on to.
I think just like how the queen had powers before becoming the "miko", other people were just like her except they haven't 'awaken' to the power so they use the miko blood in order to fasten their awakening to be miko (not human)

yea it didn't mention the infamily marriage at first and only on page 23 it did https://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/hime_muko/uu/to_v-1-chapter-4/pg-23/
i reread and the previous himiko (before shiki and the one that taught him) is not the queen's daughter but like a relative of the queen's side(?) that got infamily marriage. they seem to pass the power by blood infuse after that.
as to why to power weaken, i think its probably as you said.. it's either the power didnt get awaken or they just aren't the choosen one? since shiki just have this weird natural talent of being able to read the forecast since he was a kid?
Wait so according to spoilers, the ML is a demon born from the mother's wish. This is just me trying to figure it out, my theory per se.
So the mother made her wish and I'm guessing the demon decided to grant her wish by becoming her child, in a way sealing himself in a human form but still being able to shift into his demon form when he wants (MC first husband's death). And when MC made her wish, she broke that seal which lead to him uncontrollably shifting at night to get the "price/reward" for granting her wish.
He only looks like her because it would be weird for the mother to birth a child that does not look like her and the father, so the demon simply mimicked the already "born" (since she was still in the womb) baby and just became twins with her. So, even if he was in the same womb, it's more in terms that the mother was more like a surrogate mother for him and MC's real mother. If anything, it's more like you had an adoptive brother (who looks exactly like you lmao) that you only learned much MUCH later that he was adopted.
It's still incest, but not blood-related incest. I'm not really into incest stuff that much, but well nonblood-related incest I'm more on the fence about if anything. Blood related incest irks me more
