im p sure richard is intersex, and intersexuality is a spectrum, a person can't have a fully developed penis and vagina. as i see it, richard must have a vaginal opening, an uterus + functioning ovaries considering what happens in the manga, he could also have a large clitoris or an underdeveloped penis and that's why nurses couldn't tell when he was born.
Tbh i don't really like the whole transsexual syndrome trope. Well its more like i don't like how its used; the stories brushes over the psychological factors of person who changed sex and turns straight to romance. ACTUALLY, if mangakas DID focus on the psychological side of it wouldn't they just write a trans character instead of sexualizing the transsexual character. (This story actually does better then most of its trope too). I feel like invalidates the trans experience and mental hardships of not feeling comfortable in your own body. It also makes the character really flat and unrelatable; like wouldn't you be frustrated if your body changed without your consent or at least agitated?
