this is so cliche and stupid... mc has no backbone and ml literally took advantage of him while he was drunk
when i first started this i was confused why the ml was a red flag... like the story went from 'ooo this is pretty interesting' to 'i want to slap the mc across the face'. i wanted the mc to wake up to the position he was in. i hated how mc degraded himself and how ml was being an asshole to him. but the story was redeemable. they couldnt sat down and talked it out and all would be ok. i also noticed how mc was treating the friend that was in love with him like how he wanted the ml to treat him. like mc saw himself in the friend and wanted to be better than what the ml was to mc.
then we got the timeskip after mc got over ml. this is where all hell breaks loose. like ml literally threatens, blackmails, crosses mc's boundaries and gives him little to no respect. like how is it love if you would rather do all these awful things to the person you love and hurt them than let them be happy even if you cant be with them. that sounds like obsession to me. ngl i also felt like how the author made the ml develop feeling for mc was poorly done imo. threatening someone into having sex with you isnt consensual. ml literally took away mc's ability to consent where if he did refuse he would suffer life altering consequences. there were a few scenes where ml or the friend almost force themselves onto mc. i honestly was rooting for the friend at a point because it seemed like he really cared for mc but the 2 incidents where he tries to force himself on mc wasnt ok. there was also a scene where ml is in mc's house and forces himself on mc. mc clearly doesnt want to have sex with ml especially in his house. it seemed like to me the mc just gave up on resisting and just wanted ml to get it over with. then the brother returns stopping them from going further.
now the most recent part, ml imprisoning mc in his villa. at this point ml is scum of the earth and theres no way to redeem their relationship. as mc points out hes literally treating him like a dog, less than human. how could someone treat someone the love like that. like i get why mc is going on a hunger strike and verbally attacking ml. ml is committing a crime and he's the victim! he also recently brings up how sincd ml trapped mc in his villa why is he acting like that instead of raping him or doing whatever he wants. this reminds me of roses and champagne where the ml (shoots and) kidnaps mc and confines him in his mansion. he then proceeded to rape mc over and over WHILE injured causing him to bleed out and be in extreme pain. JUST BECAUSE ML ISN'T RAPING HIM DOESNT MEAN WHAT HES DOING IS OK. i honestly think that author is on hiatus partly because they wrote themselves in a corner where ml is such a terrible person to mc that theres no way to fix it where they can be together without ignoring what is happening.
Totally agree, I gave up on reading after the timeskip lowkey but hearing how this is how it ends is crazy. I feel like the creator just loves toxic relationships because I saw that they wrote āthe alphas circumstancesā which low key is trying to justify cheating imo I usually try to read everything but how do you even redeem a plot like that
damn i haven't read any of the authors other works so i didn't know its seems like the author likes to start with good plot ideas (establish relationship/ secretaryxboss) and drag it through hell completely ruining the orginal idea...
