It was explicitly stated that if baby ferals don't lean to live on their own early on that they wouldn't be able to survive later because they'll be too dependent, and that they'll form unhealthy attachments to their mother and possibly even come to see her as a possible mate. Curtis even said that they had already kept their babies for too long. It's tough love, and it necessary for the babies' survival and mental health.

In fact, Parker straight up told Bai that she doesn't get to reject him and that'll he'll do whatever he wants with her, and even force reproduction on her, and if she hated him for it then they'll deal with that after she gives birth to his kids. So yeah, he flat out told her that he would rape her to pregnancy if she didn't accept him. Curtis never forced Bai or coerced her into anything. Granted, he kept her with him after he initially found her, but that was it, he never tried to control, coerce, or force anything on her, and even said he was fine with not having children if she didn't want it.
