yea ik they obviously did that to set an example, but kicking him out would get the message across just fine. being that cruel would just instill fear in ppl and that would make it easy to manipulate them. that's exactly what they're trying to do, not "teach ppl a lesson"
If guwon kick him out, there is a chance of survival and he can tell other people about the place and they can swarm the place.
there is a lot of different ways to administer punishment i just gave one example, ofc kicking out might not work out, if their only choice is to kill him they could have poison him, or drown him, and so many other ways

Sure, but now he's cultivated a society that actually WANTS the bloodshed. Those people weren't reluctant in sentencing a concerned, struggling father to death. It took them less than a second to come to the unanimous decision KNOWING it would be a gruesome, inhumane public execution.
It's a sport for them atp, not a punishment.

this is so good, glad i gave this another chance after dropping it for some time. their dynamic is unique, and really well written. seheon grew on me lol, he was unlikable till he wasn't, such a complex character—no actually, you could say he's a bit one dimensional, since he's so firm in his principles and an arrogant asshole all throughout, he wasn't the unredeemable red flag type of character tho, which was refreshing, he's just a jerk is all, but not entirely a bad person
