When they play the game, their true consciousness was transfer to the game. And their body was being control by the AI, since they had observing human (by gadgets) they can imitate human behaviour perfectly without being noticed.
And in the beginning where his friends recommend the game to him, I think mc had been talking to AI all this time.
The things that I didn't understand is why people disappear in real world. Does that mean they already dead or because their consciousness in game start to believe that the game is their new reality (Like the black haired guys (the one that die :'D) can't heal his wound by potion since he has been staying in the game for a long time)

I would recommend starting only a few chapters before this, maybe 3-4 if you just want to see Athy saving Calude. But don't give up on Jeanette either :) She's actually rlly sweet in the past chapters (at least imo). I would say read from where you left off ^ ^
