But that's super interesting! I never thought there'd be a High School system working on semesters! In my country, the school year is divided in semesters, but that's mostly to better arrange exams and the content of classes; the over-all grade is still per the year (so 2 semesters per grade)
In Japan, that's more or less the case too, although I think they arrange the school year in trimesters instead. You can kinda guess this by the fact they have a vacation midway through (either summer or winter vacation, I always forget), where Shirakawa works part time and has to attend supplementary classes, etc. I don't think that vacation would be given in semester based grades...? But then again, you'd know better than me :p

because yeah, some schools in my city have a weird system, I even asked my mom and said the same, the system changed a lot, I even had a friend whose Uni "semester" only lasted 3/4 months, but those are special cases.
