So this is from the spoiler I read... the emperor had an argument with his sister about our MC. The sister wanted to hurt MC because Rohan was catching feelings for her. And emperor strictly told her not to do anything to MC as she is the precious chess piece for the emperor. So she went and killed him. I am not sure how it went. I Just read from the spoilers. She even killed and framed his own siblings so that emperor can get the throne because he promised that Rohan will be her. When emperor backing away from his word, the girl might have felt betrayed.
From Rohan sides, after the sister killed the emperor, he helped her to ran away because of his duty as a husband. That part was honestly weird because it implied that he never liked her. He married her because of the emperor's order. And he also ran to another kingdom and Asensio who became emperor order to kill him.
