I'm sorry but everyone in this story sucks, they're all pushy, egotistical and one track minds or have no backbone and are literal doormat.

fl, ml and shoji are all idiots. fl's bar friedns too.
fl is a self sacrificing idiot that :
1. lied with the "i don't see you romantically, so don't worry" bomb she dropped on ml while trying, and failing miserably, to reassure him about their (fake) relationship
2. is so oblivious that she's actually blind. she's just tall and assertive but it destroyed her self esteem so much that the mere thought of someone being obviously in love with her is inconceivable. like the way she "rejected" shoji in college when he gave her a rose and the way she blows her friends off when they say he was confessing and it wasn't just reenacting a movie scene. or the way she's blind to the very obvious adoration the ml has for her and how her lie about not having feelings for him hurt him deeply.
3. jumps to conclusion like a pro athlete. like the way she ran away like a little bitch the moment ml ended the fake relationship without giving him the chance to finish and say "bc i want to start a real relationship with you, bc i truly like you"
the ml is an idiot that :
1. in clumsy af. like the way he ended the (fake) relationship wasn't the best for sure
2. listens to ppl (shoji) too much. like no don't leave her alone, confess your feelings ffs. (why do so many romance build the plot on ppl not having the balls to simply say "i like you" or "i love you" but having the energy to jump through hoop to hurt themselves thinking the other hates them or something?)
shoji is an asshole that :
1. meddles in other ppl's relationship, and that enough of a crime in itself.and the worst part is that he fucks it up without even trying lol
2. doesn't tell ppl the truth. like he knows ml is serious about fl, but noooo he won't say it to fl. if he was a true friend, he'd tell her that ml likes her. none of that "it's not my place to tell her".
and finally
fl's bar friends are idiots that :
1. same as with shoji, they don't tell ppl the truth and still try to give (useless) advice that helps no one. bc again, true friends tell their friends when someone likes them (back). like yeah, ideally they'll confess to each other, but real friends are here to push them forward and be the bearer of good news when they're faced with (known) oblivious idiots.
they never adressed the fact that he thought she was cheating
honestly, their romance is the best slow build up and the most logical one. it's always the best possibility when you get to be with someone who truly knows who you are
