harlequin fls always have the most stupid way of showing their insecurities. and i say that as an insecure women who was forever picked last, picked on for my appearance and watched multiple of her crushes confess to her best friend and who's a 21yo virgin that never had a relationship last longer than 2 weeks.
it's obvious that the writer know absolutely nothing about dyslexia, bc first of all, there's a lot of tool to help you with it, like text-to-speech, using fonts that are easier to read (like comic sans), extensively learning about etomology and syntax bc understanding the words you use makes it easier to remember how to write them, speech therapy help with dyslexia too, playing games that encourages you to think like sudoku or sorting games, and many more.
and secondly, if the author is american, then they're even more unknowledgeable, bc the us is the only 1st world country with a literacy rate lower than 90% and it's at 75%. as you are considered illiterate when you have a reading comprehension lower than 6th grade. Basically, about 25% of americans read worse than a 6 grader, so the fl is not unique in her illiteracy at all, since a quarter of the population is functionally illiterate.
and lastly, dyslexia doesn't make you dumb, as someone's who has dyslexia (albeit mild), it doesn't stop you from loving reading and writing, getting good grades or living a regular life and reading everyday things, it just makes it harder to do it as intuitively as others, but like i wrote at the start, there's plenty tools to help along the way. so her being made into a bumbling fool bc of her dyslexia feels almost ableist to me.

ml be like "i didn't want youto end up withsomeone else so i manipulated you into marriage telling you it's to save my family's reputation (which males no sense bc it creates a scandal even bigger) and made you think i didn't love you instead of growing some balls and confessing from the start, which could've avoided us many heartaches" yeah right
