I don't know much about gay people are in relationships irl since I don't know many within two degrees of separation. My sister has got a couple of friends who are bi and a couple of their friends are gay but not enough gayness around me to get the kind of gossip I get to hear about hetero relationships. So I have no idea from personal experience how gay people behave towards romantic interests that aren't reciprocal. But, I have heard somethings about public figures and from general conversations from people on social media. I have seen people think shipping IRL people or characters means that they know how things should be and should have the final word on what kind of relationships two people should have and shipping gives them the right to harrass actual people, their families, their workplaces and go around accusing authors and creators of queer baiting and what not, all because you can't accept that neither those actual lives or those stories belong to you and people are under no obligation to humour your fetish. Also, I have seen the kind of behaviour that has been deemed as acceptable by bl audiences when it comes to their protagonist. All of this peripheral knowledge makes me surmise that even in irl, gay people aren't any less capable of being absolutely annoying bastards that straight people can be. Well, that's my operating principle when it comes to people. I don't presume any category of ethnicity, nationality, caste, religion, gender, orientation or whatever other demographic marker to be naturally better than the others. They're all equally likely to be pieces of shit for the same reasons when they can get away with it.
And that is the crux of the matter, what you let them get away with. Seems like you are giving straight people no leeway but gay people are getting free rein from you. You are a BL reader. You should be well aware that like every third story on here involves a gay character (whoever shows interest in men first) forcing their interest on someone who has either been shown to be straight, has ambiguous sexuality or just plain not interested and often is someone who already has varying degrees of friendship or other non-sexual social relationships with them. These gay characters are always horribly disrespectful of the other person's boundaries and also, of any pre-existing relationship that they may share with. They act as if the other person's owes it to them to reciprocate their advances or interest just because they "love them so much", will not quietly give up when refused and will impose themselves where they don't belong into the other person's personal space and family life. If a straight character behaves half as toxic as a gay lead does in a BL, you can bet they'll be made out to be a villain who needs to be put in their place. But, none of you has a problem when your leads are behaving exactly the same thinking they're so special that they can conversion therapy a straight man into turning gay for them. "I am not gay for anyone else but you" is one of the cornerstones of the genre. I don't get why you're acting so offended at a straight character behaving exactly how so many gay characters behave and get rewarded for as well.
Forget other stories, isn't your main character far bigger of a bitch than a straight gal chasing after a gay guy hoping she could convince him to get with her instead? I didn't read beyond the first couple of chapters because the premise itself is so damn disgusting. Your boy is an old man using his power and clout to force himself upon a young adult, more than a decade younger, by subjecting him to the casting couch. This goes beyond being just a shitty person who is disrespectful towards other people's choices, lifestyles and boundaries. This is legit coercing people into having sex with you. Bro is sex offender material. But, here you are offering up your bleeding hearts to him, cheering him on as he forces a vulnerable young guy into sleeping with him but you draw the line at a straight girl not giving up on a gay guy and turning into a male home sexuality fetishizer.
I seriously hate the way it ended, such a waste of my time. Really loved it and enjoyed reading until it was decided who he was going to end up with Booooooooooooooo!
