To preface what I mean, it feels like a rushed ending like, they decided THIS chapter they wanted to end this.
Why? Because this was a slow burn with many different plot points taking place at the same time. What I mean is when Jerry got the book he realized every route with Ilya, even the cannon/good route was a bad route, as in a route that ended up poorly for the country and/or Jerry. We also were introduced to the book that required more pieces for more information, the shop keeper who stole his brooch (for something that I felt was literally going to be revealed in these next few chapters) and LITERALLY the terrorists that Ilya was “working with” who were still terrorizing the country that only Jerry could stop. Plus we were also introduced to the system being an outside magic force that Ilya could see and told Jerry was an unknown magic. There were so many build ups for something that genuinely felt like it would be introduced, yet this chapter/ending felt like, a fanfiction ending. Like why is it snowing now. Why does Jerry all of a sudden accept his feelings for Ilya. What happened to the terrorists. What happened to the crown prince. What happened to the books/server magic/shopkeeper. Like, were we not just building up to a huge climax?
I genuinely believe that the time between last chapter and this chapter the author felt maybe bored or wanted to move on and just wrote a scrapped ending. Like I don’t want smut or anything but why did it end when they finally started dating? Not only that but they timeskipped and got married not even a second after they started dating and then time skipped AGAIN skipping all the important “royals can’t live in the castle after a different royal ascended the throne” like I GET it’s like the mentor and he gave up his last name and right to the throne but? How? Crazy to have a slow burn then get a ending like that out of nowhere I’m honestly a little disappointed. By no means was this the best manhwa I’ve read, but it was definitely really sweet and I enjoyed the updates, so having such a cut off ending like this because the author must’ve hated it or something (genuinely only explanation I can think of with an ending THAT unplanned and rushed) just makes me a little sad yknow?
Omg I know this is random but does anyone know the sauce for the endnotes on chapter 15 and 16? I might come back to this if there’s more later chapters since I’m currently on chapter 17 but those kids look SO adorable and I really wanna read the manga/manhwa they’re from so bad
Tbh this was such a fun read when it was her against the bullies that then transitioned into him finishing the job (forgot both their names lol)
I tried reading after that but honestly it just stopped becoming a regular killer story because honestly the whole reason I enjoyed it so much was because it reminded me of the good ol’ days of creepypasta, but then apparently the pumpkin knight is a spirit and it’s not just them losing their minds over trauma and she comes back to life and it’s just…. What?
It stopped being a killer revenge story from a couple who experienced hardcore trauma which honestly felt realistic in a way to now an unrealistic power fantasy that never ends and is just nonstop gorey.
Like now they’re just killing to kill which is like nice and all I guess (give me some credit here, there isn’t much I can compliment it on without sounding like a psychopath)
But I feel like it misses that “oh she has to kill these guys I wonder how she does it” or “I wonder what happened to her to make her go crazy at that” and gasping at the unique ways she kills her bullies and honestly the way she passed away while fantasizing with the boy about what life could’ve been like without the bullies was kinda cute
Just kinda disappointed as to what it became. Hell I’ll even reread the earlier parts but I can’t get passed the whole supernatural stuff and the weird pedophilia doctor
Ok call me crazy but why do I kinda fw the second volume and couple more than the first one ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄ like the first couple was cute and all but the second couple has me on the edge of my seat and I think they’re so much cuter
Like okay I totally understand where you guys are coming from, I’m not sending any hate or anything, because I do agree it’s cliche and Tess isn’t the best, but I don’t hate her as much as a lot of you do, like I won’t drop it if they get together and honestly I think the romance between her and Arthur is kinda cute, like watching teen love a little bit.
Of course I won’t say any spoilers but I do reference some scenes (that you’d get if you read it, but won’t be spoiled if you haven’t) that way you can see where I’m coming from without being worried that I’d ruin the plot(๑•ㅂ•)و✧
There’s definitely times where she frustrates me, but I really like how she has been patient while also taking the lead knowing he wouldn’t, like she knows he’s afraid and she wants him to see that it’s okay. I also really like how she grounds him, like after he feels like he’s lost everyone and that he’s alone, she’s still there by his side and and he’s willing to do anything to protect her, considering her as one of his family members even if they haven’t been together for long. I also really love her development with his family, like I honestly kinda think they nailed a daughter in law’s relationship with her “lover’s” family (idk what else to call him)
I also kinda like how ambiguous their relationship is, like they’re not together but there’s something there. I’m glad they don’t focus hard on the romance plot but I do enjoy it being there like a nice break from the whole crazy depression fight arcs that TBATE is good at.
I also completely understand the whole weird reincarnation and age thing, but I actually like how they approached it, like rather than typical reincarnation romances where they don’t consider age at all, it’s actually a part of the plot and he hasn’t considered her anything more than a little sister until they grew up. Sure they’re still young, but I’d much prefer this than him, a minor, dating someone his mom’s age (which he literally talks about) and he didn’t date her when they were kids which he totally could’ve, instead they started going down the romance plot when they’re like (16? I don’t remember) in a more comfortable dating age and she took the first step. Even then he’s holding himself back, but it only makes me more excited for when they’re adults and he’ll finally consider it as okay. (I don’t consider it pedophilia that much considering he’s technically a minor too, but I still see where you guys are coming from with that so I am glad they didn’t really confirm the relationship just yet)
But hey maybe it’s because I’m a sucker for romance ┗( T﹏T )┛
Long story short: I don’t mind it that much because the author goes about it correctly in my eyes, and they take a more realistic approach (like of course Tess is more immature than Arthur despite her being older, he technically lived longer while she is still going through puberty, mind and body)
And they don’t focus on it enough to take away from the plot but rather ground it, give readers a break while establishing relationships type thing
Only thing I’m a little disappointed about is that it felt like a harem was going to start and honestly I’d MUCH rather a sole Tess romance plot than a harem plot. Now THATS cliche
Thanks for reading my rant if you did, I just thought people were giving Tess and the romance wayyy too much hate, when yes she’s not the best, but she’s definitely better than people make her out to be and yes I am caught up to the manhwa and read some of the novel and TBATE is one of my favoritesლ(´ڡ`ლ)

Yknow I had hope, even an inkling of hope, that maybe, just maybe there will be some really good character development like in waterside night and other mangas, NAH, there ain’t no recovery and honestly I don’t even know if I could mentally come back to this. （￣へ￣）
Its not…bad…like interesting plot and art but it is WAYYY too dark, like even if they got happy and had a child, I could not help but think poor uke and I pray to GOD they don’t get a kid.(￣∇￣")
