If I remember well it's because the Crown Prince and the Pope used Arielle in the original story for political gains and made her into a fake saintess. Once Camilla appeared they didn't need Arielle anymore so they killed her. While she was alive they both also weren't nice to her at all. I dont remember Lloyd doing anything to the og Arielle, but he is similar to the Pope and the Crown Prince in that he uses people for his benefit and then tosses them away. The last ML, Diego, is a demon. They are all similar in that they though Arielle was someone expendable. They're people who treat others poorly.
