I think the reason her name keeps getting higher is because Enra's dad has been spying on them, and can see that Enra is falling for the girl. Basically, daddy doesn't want Enra falling for the girl. Yama is the parent that gets in between couples. ╮(￣▽￣)╭

Yeah, this manga is based on a novel. The setup is pretty convoluted, but everything you see will have meaning later on. Even the middle-school girl on the bus that crashed.
