NPTW is a very common procedure in Germany. We do it via VAC-therapy (Vacuum Assisted Closure) and it's pretty much the same as shown there. They normally do a swab for microbiological investigation to find out which pathogen caused the infection. They also clean the infected area before they flush out the wound and put a sponge inside the infected area.
