i like how it’s focused on their life and familial relationships instead of political issues. the political issues were solved pretty early and easily in the beginning. i also like that every character is so unique. the fact that no one is genuinely in love with laritte except for ian. seta is just infatuated with her face because he likes pretty humans. ikar has a soft spot for her cat and the crown prince/emperor is a homie that is just happy to support his friends’ relationship. no messy love triangles or messy love rivals. almost little to no manipulative plots and characters
and honestly yeah, both mc and duke have made poor choices and are quite desperate in their own situations. the mc is desperate to mend the bond between the duke and his son but in the process she ended up being insensitive towards him. not knowing hsi issue is one thing but not really trying hard to find out and just saying “i don’t know your circumstances and i don’t care what it is” despite it all is still a wrong thing to say. i can imagine that when she found out, she’ll definitely beat herself up for being insensitive. the duke is desperate to run away from his trauma that he emotionally neglected his son too. it’s not easy to heal from his trauma but running away from it won’t help, it’ll just keep eating away at him bit by bit. both are wrong but i mean, both are human so this is a very realistic scenario
