Everyone fhere is a hypocrite period. No one is clean.

You have to empathise with him. Yes what heās doing is totally wrong but he does have some valid reasons. The whole system is corrupt and the only reason why anyone is starting to do something is because John has opened their eyes. At this point everyone is a hypocrite. The class, the bullying, everything is just a vicious cycle. Everyone is just trying to get on each otherās good sides. John had experienced severe bullying and something that had traumatised him so badly. To start a new life, to get away from that history and meet someone who betrayed him is like a stab in the heart. He has every right to doubt the whole system because he experienced betrayal and the effects of ranks and having no abilities not once but twice. Yes I agree heās wrong for thinking that pounding his fist into someoneās face will make a change but his anger is something heās pent up for so long.

@Randomreader Was about to point that out lol
I just can't stick to the side that thinks if something doesn't work it's better being broken. John, with his almighty power, doesn't care about the hierarchy, he's above it after all. He doesn't care about low tiers, not even once did actually. He's been drunk on power since he awakened his ability.
I can't but relate this to how a bad drinker would be. You know, when someone has really bad drinking he just mess everything around him? He then is made to go to AA therapy, just to convince himself the alcohol is the one to blame for what he does. He then stops drinking, almost seems like he can pass like a normal person just to make a mess of himself and around him when he try the "cursed" drink once again.
Turns out alcohol was just his excuse to let loose his repressed impulses as he was dark at the core and had self acceptance issues.

Yeah, thatās a perfect way to put it im not fully on his side but I get why he does the thing he did and I felt like itās been made pretty clear he has trust issues which can explain why he is so against the safe house with out knowing anything bout it. Clair(is that her name?) did something similar to go against him , even if it makes sense why she went against him it still left a mark on him

Only if john's problem was that he's revenge-driven, this would be much more enjoyable... Thing is, John's memory is quite selective, he only remembers clair "betrayal" but doesn't stop to think that just before that happened he was not only abusing his own friends but also looking down on them even harder that the high tiers themselves.
And he did the very same with Sera, talk about smacking your face twice with the same rock.
Treated him like a prostitute wtf
