Not having sexual desire/the will to have sex/sexual attraction puts them on the spectrum. There are asexual people(especially males) that still need to release whatever is pent up but still don't want sex. There are also ace people that can have sex to please their partner but don't really take pleasure in the activity themselves. There are people repulsed by sex. These are all different people on the spectrum.
Also yeah trauma can in few cases make you asexual, the majority of asexuals feel it without a trigger though. So in this case its a lack of desire AND trauma, maybe if he gets rid of his trauma he will feel comfortable feeling intimate but personally having an asexual character in yaoi would be fucking mind blowing.
