His coach is not wrong. His entire life revolved around MMA because it got him out of a tough situation. But what comes next? Realistically, he can't go on fighting for much longer. MMA is very hard on the body and most fighters end up retiring young. Once he can't fight anymore, what else is there to do?
He needs to start now. Get a life outside of MMA. Maybe study to be something else. Do something on the side.
