Well coz above all, it's the memories that keep on hurting Linus.. it was the feelings tht started when he first laid his eyes to Peter.. it was all tht that made those came to tht point. And having those wiped away by amnesia is the best thing tht could happen. I agreed tho on peter's side... And idk if im the only one who noticed but valencia mentioned he alwys out the gun away from Linus and this time he did it again does tht mean Linus always tried committing sewercide but kinda failed everytime maybe coz of his loyal subordinates saving him immediately and maybe continues attempt made his mental condition worse
