The first chapter is the present and the blonde esper is actually Hima (real name Hwajin). Than has awakened as a Guide and is now the Director of their division, though he doesn’t realize Hima and Hwajin are the same person. Yes, Hima/Hwajin is the one being gang raped
The current chapters is the past, going back seven years, when Hwajin lost his memories after falling. Not sure if he fell or if he tried to end his life after killing his whole esper squad to avenge his twin brother who was killed by the same squad. He was saved by the Library, and Than named him Hima.
As Hima, he’s completely different and doesn’t remember being a powerful esper with the ability to control vines/plants. In the current chapter, a merchant visiting the Library seems to know him and in the flashback it shows Hima/Hwajin was once a low-zone citizen with a strong personality (unlike the current Hima we see now). He became a soldier to protect his brother despite hating the capital because the merchant dude ratted out that his twin was a guide (to help them get a better life apparently).
We still dont know how present day Hima regained his eye and why his hair turned blonde or why he was in that situation being assaulted :/

I love this explanation although I'd like to add that be actually planned on killing himself or at least it was implied since he wasn't planning on going back and didn't want to kill anyone else.
And nobody knew he was a powerful Esper, not even he himself, he was treated as a weakling and to use his vines as a distraction for monsters.

He did hide being an Esper and seeing how he was from the low-zone, it would make sense that he never even bothered developing his ability.
Ofc we dont know for sure, but I have a theory that Hima loses his memories of Hima and becomes Hwajin, and Than swears to be his guide, and then there is the angst of Than loving him (and despising him) and Hwajin not remembering him. In stories with memory loss the authors usually make them have it more than once, so I wonder if this isn't the case here.
At the prequel, we got to see Jinwoo from the Omega's POV. Where he didn't try to understand Jinwoo's character. Jinwoo has his fault too. If you loved him, you could've tell him. btw thanks Jinwoo for not telling him & you got the best boyfriend for you ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~
Agree colton is most caring who understands daemon fully he did good by leaving omega let his brother has him I don't feel dept in character of prequel only understood daemon as a fault cuz it was from omega pov made it like one sided story but daemon suffered he had no one by his side to understand him fully
