So I’m really liking this manhwa. Yes there were extremely problematic behaviors but those were actually addressed unlike 95% of all yaoi out there. When he said he wouldn’t do anything till the other guy consented, and he kept to it, that had me living.
What I wish the mangaka would address though is the fight, flight, and freeze ways that people deal with conflict. The uke freezes at conflict out of fear or shock and is unable to make a decision. That’s a classic case of ‘freeze’ that happens to people even if they try not to. It’s not their fault and I wish to one day find a manga/manhwa that addresses it.
Fawn is the fourth where at the first sign of conflict the person does everything they can to appease the situation whether or not they actually agree/believe the other person. A very yes-man sort of stance.
Diego is a badly written plot device that exists only to hinder the relationship of the main leads and provides little to no substance to the story/world as a whole.
He doesn’t even serve as a remotely interesting or captivating second love interest because we already know Ibelina only has eyes for the duke and vice versa. There is no suspense of a “will they or won’t they”. Just frustration that these blockers exist only to slow the relationship down and nothing else.
The postpartum depression, the isolation (imagine having to get permission to see your family and friends), being ignored by the people who work for you, and an estranged husband who murdered so many people— one in front of her. No wonder she had so much pent up resentment and took it out on the one person she could. It was definitely wrong of her— her situation doesn’t excuse her actions. But at least, we understand a bit of how hard it was for her
Also I think with how lacking psychological help is in that time period it made sense why the husband thought that just letting her be and ignoring the fact that she was a negligent mother would be the right thing. It wasn’t. But I’m sure he did feel sorry for her to some degree so he let things go on without confronting her about her actions.
But really, he should have. They should have talked and tried to understand each other better but that just wasn’t done back then. How frustrating.

Someone call 911. Someone’s been murdered. The burns were too severe
